Born and raised in a Samburu nomadic village year 1986, a second born in a family of seven. The oldest of his 4 brothers. I went to a local school under the tree with a portable wooden writing and chalk boards for 3 years, until later when the catholic missionaries build a permanent structures we knew as the classrooms.

I finished my elementary school with difficulty in getting materials to study with, these are books, pencils and uniforms. And up to date they are major challenges faced by children at school, beside walking miles bare-footed to school.

Lucky enough, after 8 years of primary school I managed to sit for my end course examinations that introduced me to the city for my high school, Life that I wasn’t born with, tall buildings, traffic jams and many people on foot and crime.

Boarding life as well wasn’t easy as it exposed me to students from different upbringing, cultures and tradition. The common goal and purpose that brings us together was the love for better education.

I love reading, playing soccer and making friends. Geography and history were my favorite subjects.

My passion for wildlife and nature drove me to study Wildlife and Tourism Administration in college. I served as field guide around the country for six years, meeting and interact with many people from all over the world. From a local nomadic village I got an opportunity to experience and share different parts of our beautiful country.

Nevertheless, since I have my tribe and village in heart, and always wishing to bring change amongst them especially the young children, I retired in active tour guiding last year to actively present in Samburu Young Runners Foundation-CBO.

Many thanks to Leon and Sue Mcninch for having big heart in supporting young and talented athletes from our marginalized community. Many thanks should also go the team in SYRF-CBO for their dedication, commitment and love towards the young talent athletes.

Married with 2 sons.

Thanks and God’s grace be with you all.

I was born and raised at lorubae, a small village in samburu county northern Kenya. I attended my primary school at lorubae primary school. I joined Uaso Secondary school in 2005 upon completion of my primary education. Four years later I finished my secondary school. I joined Mount Kenya Univerity in 2010 to pursue Bachelors degree in Education and graduated in 2014. I was so lucky to have acquired my higher level education from family friends, Steele’s family. My interest in leadership dates back to my years in high school, where I never liked watching my colleagues not represented well by the prefects. This sparked the need to involve myself in human life to bring positive impacts. I was good in Chemistry and I felt bad that my classmates and schoolmates didn’t like it, it seemed only logical that I pursue a career (Bachelor in Education, Biology and Chemistry) that will fetch new perception towards the subject. When I began my undergraduate career, I had the opportunity to study a number of subjects in the humanities such as sociology and they have been both enjoyable and enlightening, enabling me to develop a special interest in human life and to have a different perspective on the world in which we live. I was so passionate about the well being of the community. Of course, my plans following completion of my baccalaureate degree are to move directly into the field to make the change I desired. I started my working at Uaso Secondary School as a volunteer Chemistry and Biology teacher. The school administration was sufficiently impressed with my work and the students appreciated my efforts and the impacts of the change seen in my subjects. In the same year, I joined GirGir Day Secondary school as a volunteer teacher as well. I thank God as I also made some change in the class I was given. My objective towards this was to bring transformation in human life by changing the attitude hence excellence. Besides my profession, I have a lot of passion for sports. I have been a volunteer coach for soccer and athletics both in and outside school. This has given an insight to appreciate talents and hence the need to nurture. Since my involvement in sports, I have been curious on how these talents can be tapped. Through this, a Samburu Young Runners was founded. I with my colleagues (Alois, Josephine, Leon and Susan) was able to take the initiative and work on it. Our desire, as Samburu Young Runners team, is to envision to a community in which the athletics is embraced and to provide support that promotes the development and success of these talents.

I have a strong passion of serving and working with my people in all aspects and fields in order to try and make our lives better. This is the passion that made me to easily team up with my colleagues to initiate and promote the activities of Samburu Young Runners Foundation which is a Community Based Organization. It is my sincere hope and prayer that through this initiative, young talented and unidentified runners from our communities will be tapped and be nurtured up to realize their full potential as we expose them to the World in matters athletics. I sincerely wish to express my sincere and heartfelt vote of thanks and appreciations to our donors and other benefactors who are supporting our Community Based Organization to ensure that our activities are running and that we realize our dreams.
